Katgara Foundation

This foundation formed in 1981 by the late Mr. Nariman Jehangir ji Katgara and the late Mr. Adi Jehangir ji Katgara (Senior Partners of Jeena & Co.), is a Public Charitable Trust registered with the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai, under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950.

The main charitable objective of this Trust is to help needy individuals/institutions in the field of medical relief, advancement of education, alleviation of human suffering etc.

As of date, the foundation’s contribution in terms of reimbursements made towards Medical is 65% & towards Education is 30%.

A few key initiatives conceptualized & driven by the KATGARA foundation:


WATER PURIFIERS
For a water purification project, non electrical Gravity Based Purifiers were distributed to 68 families who have limited access to safe drinking water at a tribal village “Kambhacha Pada” at Aarey Milk Colony at Goregaon in Mumbai.

On World Water Day on 22nd March, 2018, water purifiers were installed at Nehru Science centre to provide an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to over 3,000 visitors.

We were instrumental in setting up an Atmospheric Water Station at Jalimudi Village in the state of Andhra Pradesh (India) which is the first village in the world to receive safe, purified drinking water from the air.

WATER PURIFIERS FOR ALIBAUG SCHOOL
School children at Babasaheb Najare High School and Junior College at Awas, Alibaug ARE now drink safe and clean water from air thanks to a philanthropist. The Water Maker was installed recently to educate the students on water conservation as this technology requires no water source.

SPONSORING EYE CAMPS
Sponsoring eye camps where free eye check ups are carried out and cataract operations are performed for the deserving poor.

DENTAL CAMP
All employees of Jeena & TBi Delhi have free time to time Dental check-up’s.


FUNDING CONSTRUCTION & RENOVATION OF HOSPITAL WARDS in Mumbai.

MID DAY MEAL PROJECTS
Mid-day meals to school children and distribution of food grains and other essential house hold commodities are also donated annually to destitute rural families.

Since July 2008, the KATGARA Foundation is a part sponsor in PRAGATI, a voluntary organization for free education of underprivileged children, sponsoring free daily Mid-Day Meal projects for approximately 400 school children at the PRAGATI School located at Gurugram in Haryana.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities, the PRAGATI School hosts an array of initiatives in which, the children can actively participate & gain awareness, such as:
